PMI - Arabian Gulf Chapter (PMI - AGC) Announcement

The Project Management Institute – Arabian Gulf Chapter (PMI-AGC) Kuwait is pleased to invite you and your concerned staff to a Technical Presentation and dinner meeting on 11th February 2008, at the Salwa Sabah Al-Ahmad Theater and Hall at Marina Hotel in Salmiya, Kuwait. General Abstract of the Presentation:
Kharafi National is a regional leader in the development of infrastructure privatization projects in BOT, BOO, PPP and other schemes. Infrastructure Project development entails multiple activities including: design, financing, construction and long term operation & maintenance of large infrastructure projects. The definitions, challenges, structure and intricacies of project development and privatization are outlined and discussed. Particularly the basic three stages till successful project award (Development, bidding and negotiations) are examined and related to the application of project management processes and knowledge areas for successful development of privatization projects. Identification of potential projects and the risk assessment process is discussed, followed by project structures including contractual arrangements and interactions among the various stakeholders in a privatization scheme (e.g., owners, developers, lenders, consultants, EPC Contractors, O&M Contractors and end users) are discussed. Actual end to end examples of development projects that were developed by Kharafi National are discussed such as the Sulaibiya Wastewater Treatment & Reclamation plant in Kuwait which is the biggest project of its kind in the world.
Speaker Profile:
Dr. Al-Ghusain has a B.S., M.S. and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering, specializing in Environmental Energy and Water Resources plus 15 years experience in teaching, research and administration at Kuwait University. He has served as a consultant for various local, regional and international organizations. He has been with Kharafi National since 2004 first as a consultant eventually as Director, Projects Development at Infrastructure Project Development (IPD) responsible for projects development and business development activities for privately funded projects within IPD. He is also the General Manager of Utilities Development Co. (UDC), the SPC for the Sulaibiya Wastewater Treatment Plant. Dr. Al-Ghusain is a member of local, regional and international professional bodies and organizations.
