PMP Examination Change Approaching

The new Project Management Professional (PMP)® examination will be released on 31 August 2011 as a result of the recent Role Delineation Study (RDS).

The PMP® RDS is the foundation on which this professional certification is based.
The RDS defines what project managers do, how often they do it and how important their work is. As the RDS is updated, there are resulting updates to the examination questions and process areas in the PMP examination application.

PMI strongly encouraging PMP candidates who have prepared for the current exam to schedule their exam on or before 30 August.

Delivery of Exam Results
As PMI transition to the new examination, PMI must update its examination reporting processes. This means for a short period of time examination results will not be available immediately following the examination. There will be a 4–6 week period between taking the examination and receiving the results via email.
This delay is necessary any time an exam changes to validate the new examination structure. In particular, please note the following details about the delivery of the examination results.
• Candidates who take the updated computer-based examination on or after 31 August will not receive immediate results at the Prometric testing center.
• Candidates taking the updated paper-based examination can also expect a delay in receiving their examination results.
• Once PMI validates the new examination structure (by mid-October) we will be able to resume providing individuals with immediate results at the Prometric testing center.
• Each PMP candidate will receive a communication to notify them when their results are available at PMI.org.
• All candidates can expect to receive their examination results by mid-October.
Changes to Application
In addition, for candidates who are getting ready to apply for the PMP, the application will be updated to reflect the current role of the project manager revealed in the new RDS.
• In the past, PMI has required candidates to track and report their hours of experience leading and directing projects for each task within the RDS.
• On 31 August, PMI will update the PMP application to require candidates to track and report their hours for each domain (Process Group) within the RDS.
• Any candidates who have an application in progress at the time the change is made will have their experience hours migrated to the new application, so that no data is lost
• Please refer to the PMP Handbook on PMI.org for more detailed instructions.
We are excited to transition to the new PMP examination and thank you for your continued support to the global community of project management professionals. Should you have any questions, please contact PMI Customer Care.

Updates to the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam

PMI Announce on its website theUpdates to the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam.

The Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential examination will be updated in 2011, based on updates to the professional role of a PMP® recently found in PMI’s Role Delineation Study (RDS).

These updates to the role do have an effect on the examination questions for the PMP, and will be reflected in the PMP examination starting 31 August 2011. Regular communications about this change will continue until the PMP examination change on 31 August.

How the PMP is affected?

The latest results of the RDS produced an updated description of the professional role of a PMP. The responses met the requirements for statistical relevancy and adequately reflected the profession in geography, industry and other standard demographics. We collected feedback from more than 3,000 PMP credential holders from 97 countries, representing all organizational levels.

The RDS results provide us with a blueprint for updating the credential:

■The education and experience eligibility requirements for the existing PMP examination remain appropriate and will not be changed.

■Approximately 30% of the PMP exam content will change.

■Certain examination areas will be tested in a different way. Specifically, the Professional and Social Responsibility content area (Domain 6) will now be tested in every domain, rather than as a separate domain. The RDS revealed that professional and social responsibility is integrated into all of the work of project management. Therefore, PMI’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct should be viewed as integrated into the day-to-day role of a project manager and important in each phase of the project lifecycle.

If you would like to know more about the process PMI used for conducting the RDS, please refer to Appendix A in the PMP Examination Content Outline.

Last Month I became an aPRO Recognized Assessor

What is the aPRO?
For the asapm ( American Socity of Advanced Project Management) Performance Rated Organization
asapm introduce the release of aPRO, an organizational assessment of PM Performance. aPRO, asapm Performance Rated Organization, consists of a Standard, Assessor Guidance, an Assessor Recognition program, and the training needed to properly use the process. See the aPRO Press Release announcing the full availability of this completed standard. .

The aPRO Standard has two purposes:

•To Certify project or program-performing organizations as meeting threshold performance requirements, as specified in asapm's extensively-researched organizational standard.

•To Assess organizations to identify the areas of greatest potential for significant pm performance improvement.
The aPRO standard uses the same rationale as asapm's Performance Competence-based Certification Program for individuals: To evaluate PM performance, or results, rather than merely concentrating on inputs or processes. This results in a more effective assessment, and requires less Assessor and organization staff time.

The aPRO Standard is available now. The rationale for the new standard is this: Even with the advanced certifications of Project and Program Managers that asapm offers, together with the entry-level knowledge-based certifications offered by others, Organizational PM Performance requires more than competent, performing Project and Program Managers. aPRO assesses and identifies the Units, Elements and Criteria that Performing Organizations demonstrate.

PMI-RMP Exam Preperation Course

I had finished the PMI-RMP exam preparation course, it was wonderful course and I hope all the attendees will pass the exam next week.
I got many requests to know how to prepare for this exam and here is my reply:
First : you need to study the following knowledge areas in the PMBOK 4th. Edition
1 - Risk Management Knowledge Area
2 - Communication Management Knowledge area

Second: you need to Know the Earned Value Technique.
SPI , CPI, ETC , EAC , CV , SV and the relation between the performance and risk.
Schedule Control and Cost Control Processes are very important.

Third : Read the Risk Management Standard and focus more on the tools and techniques

You can practice exam questions from UCertify.

Project Risk Management

"Project Risk Management in not an optional activity: it is essential to successful project management. It should be applied to all projects and hence by included in project plans and operational documents. In this way, it becomes an integral part of every aspect of managing the project, in every phase and in every process group" PMI Practice standard for project Risk Management.

In most of my PMP classes I found some trainees interest in Risk Management but unfortunately I didn't find many companies interest to apply it. My question is where is the problem is it in the people who are not interest to pay more time and effort to manage the risk or in the organizations who accept the risk all time.
I think there is a problem in the understanding of the risk itself , even some of PMPs don't know exactly how to apply risk management.

PMI issued the new standard of Project Risk Management but I think it is not enough for application , I feel that this field still need more effort and improvement to facilitate the application itself.
Risk is surrouneing us from every where , most of the projects fail because of not giving a good attention to the risk management.
I'll start with myself as a Project Management Consultnat and Trainer to give more practical examples and hands on training in how to manage the risks in the project starting from my next Risk Management class in Kuwait I'll focus more on the application more than the theories and see the effect of this.
